Altar(ed) Girl: One Woman's True Story of Confronting Clergy Sexual Abuse by Derryn Grey (aka C.M. Morgan)
An easy read on a hard topic. This is an autobiography recounting the 40 year journey of recovering from childhood clergy sexual abuse. From having a face-to-face conversation with my perpetrator, to enduring five long years of litigation against the church, my story spirals through the tears, fears, and struggles shared by almost all survivors of sexual abuse.
Feeling spiritually lost and emotionally worn out, I found my soul and long lost self during a six month hiatus traveling throughout Australia. Finding and embracing forgiveness proved once again that our history is not our destiny.
Through the power of love and guidance from friends and complete strangers, I celebrate my victories while realizing the power of confronting the demons and trusting oneself. This is the story of a profound experience in my life. By facing my fears and sharing my story, I learn many life lessons and that forgiveness is the path to acceptance and self-love.

Author
I'm a 64-1/2 year old mother of two young children ages nine and eleven living in a very small town in Central Minnesota. A Sign Language Interpreter for 30 years who dreams of writing more books, I published "Altar(ed) Girl" not only to finally get this story out of my head and onto printed paper, but also to connect with others - survivors and non-survivors alike.
I embrace the teachings of Buddhism, my children, meditation and humor. It is my hope that us women are clearing the way for some version of the Wanderground in the not-too-distant future.
